As soon as the first appointments of Magistrates were made, the members of the Constitutional Court - constituted as a College of Magistrates - began the preparatory work for setting up the institution. These first meetings were held at the Centre for Constitutional Studies (Plaza de la Marina Española, n°9) before the headquarters were temporarily moved to Paseo de la Havana, n° 140-142.
On 16 September 1981, the Court finally relocated and established its permanent seat in the building it is currently housed in, located at No. 6 Calle Domenico Scarlatti (28003 - Madrid).
This building, originally designed for a different purpose than that of a jurisdiction, is the work of the architects Antonio Bonet and Francisco G. Valdés.
