After the first judges were appointed, the members of the Constitutional Court formed a College of Judges to commence preparations for commencing the Court's work, holding its meetings at the Center for Constitutional Studies (Plaza de la Marina Española, 9), until provisionally moving to Paseo de la Habana, 140-142. On September 16, 1981 the Court moved to its present location.
The site, originally intended for other purposes, is the work of the architects Antonio Bonet and Francisco G. Valdés. It comprises a principal building of seven floors above ground, with a central circular pavilion and trapezoidal section, and three smaller circular buildings, all of which are interconnected.
