30 June 1980: The College of Judges resolved to convene the Court and to commence exercising its functions within the term of fifteen days.

3 July 1980: The College of Judges in plenary session resolved to propose to His Majesty the King the appointment of Mr. Manuel García Pelayo as President of the Constitutional Court and Mr. Jerónimo Arozamena Sierra as Vice President.

July, 1992: Mr. Miguel Rodríguez-Piñero y Bravo-Ferrer and Mr. Luis López Guerra were respectively appointed President and Vice President of the Constitutional Court.

February, 1995: Mr. Alvaro Rodríguez Bereijo was appointed President and Mr. José Gabaldón López, Vice President.

14 February 1996: Terrorist assassination of Mr. Francisco Tomás y Valiente, former President of the Constitutional Court.

December, 1998: Mr. Pedro Cruz Villalón was appointed President and Mr. Carles Viver i Pi-Sunyer, Vice President.

12 July 2000: 20th anniversary of the Constitutional Court.

November, 2001: Mr. Manuel Jiménez de Parga was appointed President and Mr. Tomás Vives Antón, Vice President.

June, 2004: Ms. María Emilia Casas Baamonde was appointed President and Mr. Guillermo Jiménez Sánchez, Vice President.
